Educated at Sir Sanford Fleming College where he graduated with a Diploma in Resources Drilling, owner Chris McArthur, has worked on geotechnical drilling sites in Canada and abroad. In this capacity, he gained extensive knowledge about soil conditions, water and the possibility of effects of both on structural integrity. His employment experience in drilling was the start of his construction experience and left him wanting to learn more.
Upon returning to the Ottawa area, Chris found employment as a framer, a finish carpenter and working with concrete. His work with concrete, coupled with his interest in structural integrity and the possible effects of water, led him to a career in Foundations. Chris specialized in working in foundation waterproofing and structural repair in the National Capital Region for over 15 years. His work in this area lead to the realization of how little people understood the strength of water and how small changes or a lack of maintenance can create larger issues in our homes.
Having received his Home Inspectors Certificate from Algonquin College in 2009, Chris ensures that he remains current and at the forefront of changes in the construction industry. He has successfully completed a number of provincial ministry courses in mould remediation, asbestos awareness and abatement, radon testing, infrared training and Ontario Onsite sewage training. This dedication to continuing education and professional development as a member of OntarioACHI and CAHPI, combined with his experience in the field have resulted in Chris being recognized with the highest certification available from OntarioACHI and CAHPI.
Significant company milestones include accreditation by the Better Business Bureau in 2016; the receipt of Chris McArthur’s Canadian Certified Home Inspector designation by Ontario ACHI in 2017; and the RHI designation by CAHPI in 2018.
An Executive Member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Certified Home Inspectors since 2017, owner Chris McArthur works with government and industry partners to improve the home inspection industry and safeguard the public.
As part of our commitment to the community, we also volunteer our time, our knowledge and our expertise through learning initiatives –something we are very passionate about. You can often find Chris coaching at the hockey rink, the soccer pitch, or the baseball diamond or helping recent immigrants transition to their new country.
